Kaizer Chiefs must respond after MTN8 defeat, says Reeve Frosler

Kaizer Chiefs defender Reeve Frosler says his side must quickly recover from their MTN8 exit when they face Sekhukhune United in the Betway Premiership on Wednesday.

Amakhosi were beaten 1-0 by Golden Arrows at the same venue on Sunday, ending their cup campaign at the first hurdle. The result has left Chiefs with little time to reflect, with their league commitments immediately taking priority.

Frosler acknowledged the disappointment of the defeat but believes the squad has already turned its attention to correcting the problems exposed in that match. Sekhukhune United, managed by former Chiefs coach Cedric Kaze, now provide the next test.

“Losing the MTN8 game is not ideal, but we’ve got to pick ourselves up and go on to the next one. We’ve got Sekhukhune on Wednesday, another chance for us to go out there and do what we need to do, try and get a positive result,” Frosler told the Chiefs media team.

The right-back said the players had reviewed the loss and identified areas that need to improve before the midweek fixture. Chiefs will also have another league match at the weekend, making a swift response particularly important as they seek to build momentum.

“Like I said, in the MTN8 game we are disappointed with the result, but we’ve got to look forward. We’ve got to look forward, now we’ve got Sekhukhune on Wednesday and then another game on the weekend.

“Most importantly, we look to Sekhukhune on Wednesday and we have to go out there and do what we need to do as a team. Obviously, we’ve sat down, we’ve discussed what we need to discuss, where we can improve, what we need to get better at.

“And yeah, that’s what we’ve got to do going forward into Wednesday’s game. So yeah, looking forward to that game and hopefully we can turn things back the way we want it to be,” Frosler concluded.

Chiefs began their Betway Premiership campaign in impressive fashion, beating newly promoted Kruger United 3-1 in their opening match.

That victory moved Amakhosi to the top of the standings and gave them early confidence after their strong start to the league season. They will now attempt to claim another three points against Babina Noko and maintain their position near the top of the table.

The match offers Chiefs an immediate opportunity to put the disappointment of their MTN8 defeat behind them. Frosler’s message is clear: the squad must respond collectively, improve on Sunday’s performance and ensure the result against Golden Arrows does not affect their progress in the league.
