Real Madrid name squad for Deportivo La Coruna friendly as Mbappe and six others remain absent

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has named his squad for the club’s pre-season friendly against Deportivo de La Coruna, with Kylian Mbappe among seven players still unavailable because they are not ready to play.

The Spanish giants will visit Deportivo de La Coruna on Tuesday for a match being used as preparation for the 2026-27 campaign. Mbappe, Marc Cucurella, Jude Bellingham, Ibrahima Konate, Aurelien Tchouameni and Thibaut Courtois have all been left out of the squad.

Real Madrid have not provided any further details about the reasons for the players’ continued absence, beyond their lack of readiness.

The full squad selected by Mourinho is:

Goalkeepers: Andriy Lunin, Sergio Mestre.

Defenders: Dean Huijsen, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alvaro Carreras, Antonio Rudiger, Denzel Dumfries, Joan Martinez, Mario Rivas, Lamini Fati.

Midfielders: Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde, Arda Guler, Bernardo Silva, Sastero, Lacosta, Alexis Seria.

Forwards: Vinicius Junior, Endrick, Carlos Espe, Brahim Diaz, Daniel Yanez.

The fixture against Deportivo de La Coruna represents another opportunity for Mourinho to assess his available players before the start of the new season. Real Madrid’s most recent friendly ended in a 2-1 victory over Ferencvaros.

The club’s La Liga campaign will begin with a match against Espanyol in the second round of the competition. Their opening-round fixture against Real Sociedad has been postponed, meaning the meeting with Espanyol will be their first league game of 2026-27.

Real Madrid’s squad features a mixture of established first-team players and younger options, including Vinicius Junior, Endrick, Camavinga and Valverde, while several members of the senior group remain unavailable.

The absences of Mbappe, Bellingham, Cucurella, Konate, Tchouameni and Courtois continue to limit Mourinho’s selection choices during pre-season. The friendly against Deportivo de La Coruna will therefore give the manager another chance to evaluate the players who are currently fit and ready to feature.

The match comes as Real Madrid continue their preparations for a campaign that will begin later than originally planned because of the postponed game against Real Sociedad. Their final schedule for the opening weeks of the season will therefore start with the second-round meeting with Espanyol.

The squad announcement was made on Tuesday, 11 August 2026, at 15:54 and reported by FilGoal.
