Achraf Hakimi and Ibrahim Mbaye included in PSG squad

Achraf Hakimi and Ibrahim Mbaye have been included in Paris Saint-Germain’s squad for Wednesday’s European Super Cup against Aston Villa.

Hakimi’s inclusion comes just two days after the defender returned to group training following an extended break after the 2026 World Cup.

The Morocco captain is therefore in contention to make his return to competitive football for PSG in the European Super Cup.

Hakimi had only rejoined his team-mates on Monday, but his presence in Luis Enrique’s squad means he could feature in the club’s first major match of the season.

Youngster Ibrahim Mbaye is also part of the travelling group after making an impression during PSG’s pre-season preparations.

The striker’s performances during the summer have earned him the continued backing of the Parisian coaching staff, who have included him alongside the senior players for the meeting with Aston Villa.

Mbaye’s inclusion provides another significant opportunity for the youngster after he used pre-season to make an impression on the PSG staff.

The European Super Cup will now give him the chance to be involved in a major fixture at the beginning of the new campaign.

PSG’s squad also contains several players who featured at the 2026 World Cup.

Ousmane Dembélé, Fabian Ruiz, Bradley Barcola and Désiré Doué are among the other World Cup players named in the group for the match.

Their inclusion means Luis Enrique has selected a squad containing both established senior players and young talent for the European Super Cup.

For Hakimi, the match could mark a rapid return to competitive action after his extended post-World Cup rest.

The defender’s return to training on Monday left him with limited time back in the group before Wednesday’s fixture, but he has nevertheless been included in the squad.

For Mbaye, meanwhile, the selection represents a continuation of the positive impression he made during the summer pre-season.

The PSG youngster has retained the confidence of the club’s staff and will now be with the senior squad for the first major match of the season.

With Hakimi and Mbaye both selected, PSG will head into Wednesday’s European Super Cup with the pair available as part of a squad that also includes several of the club’s World Cup players.
