Trabzonspor await Al-Hilal decision as Darwin Nunez deal nears, while Paredes rejects move

Trabzonspor are waiting for Al-Hilal to decide whether they will contribute towards Darwin Nunez’s salary, with the Turkish club reportedly close to completing an €8m deal for the Uruguay striker.

According to Turkish website 61saat, Trabzonspor have made significant progress in their pursuit of Nunez after acting decisively in the summer transfer market. The club are understood to have reached a preliminary agreement with the 27-year-old, who has reportedly accepted their offer.

The only remaining obstacle is said to be Al-Hilal’s position on paying part of Nunez’s wages. A decision is expected today, and Trabzonspor could announce the transfer tomorrow if the Saudi Arabian club respond positively.

The proposed move would represent one of the most anticipated signings for Trabzonspor supporters as the club attempt to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. The report says the deal would cost €8m.

Nunez has established an impressive scoring record during his professional career. He has made 306 appearances, scoring 117 goals and providing 51 assists. Trabzonspor view those figures as evidence of the attacking quality he could bring to their team.

The club’s recruitment drive has also included a deal for Mohamed Salah, with the attack now appearing to be a major focus of their summer plans. Trabzonspor are aiming to reshape their squad and challenge more strongly when the new campaign begins.

However, progress in midfield has been less encouraging. 61saat reported that negotiations with Argentina international Leandro Paredes have broken down, ending Trabzonspor’s hopes of signing the Boca Juniors player.

The Turkish website cited Argentine newspaper Ole, which reported that people close to Paredes believe his recent performances at the World Cup have restored his profile in the European transfer market. That resurgence has reportedly attracted interest from a number of clubs.

Despite that attention, Paredes’ representatives are understood to have made his position clear. They say the midfielder is determined to continue his career in Argentina and remain there permanently for the time being.

That decision appears to have closed the door on a move to the Turkish league, leaving Trabzonspor with one major midfield target no longer available.

The developments leave the club balancing two contrasting transfer situations: an attack-minded signing that could be confirmed within days and a failed attempt to add Paredes to the midfield. Trabzonspor are continuing their intensive efforts to complete the rest of their recruitment before the season starts.
