Endrick’s Real Madrid future takes new turn after Mourinho intervention

Real Madrid have decided Endrick will not leave the club on loan this summer after head coach Jose Mourinho made clear that the Brazilian forward remains part of his plans.

Spanish newspaper AS reports that Real Madrid have rejected approaches from Roma and Aston Villa for Endrick, despite both clubs making significant efforts to secure his services for the coming season. Mourinho believes the 19-year-old can play an important role in the team and has persuaded the club to keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The decision follows intense activity around Endrick’s future in recent days. Roma and Aston Villa, managed by Unai Emery, had both progressed in discussions with the player and Real Madrid over a potential temporary move.

Roma had appeared to be Endrick’s preferred destination. Their involvement in the Champions League, combined with the prospect of regular first-team football, made the Italian club an attractive option for the forward.

However, Mourinho has now made his position clear. Real Madrid’s head coach sees Endrick as useful not only as a central striker but also as a player capable of creating danger from the right wing. Endrick performed in that role during parts of his time with Palmeiras and also featured there for Olympique Lyon under Paulo Fonseca.

His performances during Real Madrid’s pre-season preparations were an important factor in Mourinho’s decision. The Portuguese coach is convinced Endrick can contribute to the squad and believes he should be given the opportunity to compete for playing time on the same terms as the club’s other players.

Real Madrid’s hierarchy supports Mourinho’s stance. Club president Florentino Perez has a particularly high opinion of Endrick, while the club also attaches considerable importance to the Brazilian’s development after making a substantial financial commitment to sign him.

Real Madrid paid an initial €35m for Endrick two years ago, with a further €25m potentially due in add-ons. Once the transfer fee, commissions, salary and bonuses are included, the club’s overall expenditure on the player has exceeded €80m.

Endrick accepts the challenge of securing his place in the squad and is determined to continue his progress in Madrid, which remains his biggest ambition. He is confident in his ability to establish himself at the club, although he has not completely ruled out seeking a loan move in the future if he fails to receive the amount of playing time he wants.

A temporary transfer could therefore become an option during the January window. Endrick’s loan spell at Olympique Lyon last season was regarded as highly successful, with the forward scoring eight goals and providing five assists in 21 appearances.

That experience helped him earn a place in the Brazil squad for the World Cup and gave him valuable momentum. He now wants to use that progress to force his way into Real Madrid’s plans rather than immediately pursue another move away.

Before Mourinho blocked the proposed transfer, Roma and Aston Villa had both moved a considerable distance in negotiations. The final decision, though, is that Endrick will remain with Real Madrid for now and fight to continue his development at the club.
