Zamalek terminate contracts of Seif Farouk Gaafar and Ahmed Mahmoud
Zamalek have told Seif Farouk Gaafar and Ahmed Mahmoud that their contracts are being terminated, with both players removed from the club’s squad list and released from their pre-season training camp.
The decision was reported by FilGoal on Monday, 10 August 2026, at 18:03. The club opted to dispense with the services of the two players as part of its preparations for the new season.
Gaafar, 26, came through to Zamalek’s first team in 2019. He later spent a period on loan at Smouha before leaving Zamalek on a free transfer to join Pyramids.
He subsequently returned to Zamalek, but has now been informed that the club will end his second spell with the team. His departure comes as the Cairo club continues to finalise its squad for the upcoming campaign.
Mahmoud, 23, plays at right-back and was promoted to Zamalek’s first team in 2023. He has also been removed from the club’s squad plans and left the team’s pre-season camp alongside Gaafar.
The decision to terminate the pair’s contracts follows another two departures from Zamalek. The club had already ended the contracts of Seifeddine Jaziri and Baron Oching.
Zamalek have also decided not to register a group of young players in their squad list. Those players are Anas Wael, Ahmed Magdy, Ayman Amir Abdel Aziz, Ali Abdel Meguid and Abdel Rahman Kamal.
Gaafar’s career at Zamalek has included promotion from the club’s youth set-up, a loan move to Smouha, a free transfer to Pyramids and a return to the White Knights. His latest departure, however, means he will no longer be part of the squad preparing for the new season.
Mahmoud’s time with the first team began in 2023 after his promotion to the senior side. The right-back is now also leaving the club after being told that his contract would be terminated.
The two players’ exit from the training camp reflects Zamalek’s current reshaping of the squad. Alongside the contract decisions involving Gaafar, Mahmoud, Jaziri and Oching, the club’s decision not to register the five younger players further reduces the number of players included in its plans for the new campaign.
