Haaland draws crowds to luxury yacht during Sicily holiday

Erling Haaland was left stunned after becoming an unexpected tourist attraction during his post-World Cup holiday in Sicily.

The Manchester City striker, 26, was enjoying a break following a memorable World Cup campaign in which he scored seven goals before Norway’s impressive run was ended by England in the quarter-finals.

Haaland travelled to Sicily to enjoy some sunshine before the new Premier League season begins. However, his relaxing trip took an unusual turn when a boat filled with excited tourists stopped beside his luxury yacht to get a closer look at the forward.

According to The Sun, the tourists quickly began taking photographs of Haaland before leaving the area.

Footage of the incident has since spread widely after being uploaded to YouTube and shared across social media. Haaland appeared surprised by the attention and described the scene as something he had never experienced before.

“They are taking tourist boats. Go and drive your cars to where Haaland is staying… Come and see where Erling Haaland is staying. I have never seen anything like this before,” he said in the video.

The forward’s profile has risen considerably during the World Cup, with his number of Instagram followers increasing significantly during the tournament. That heightened attention appeared to follow him into his holiday, with the boat passengers making a special stop to see him in person.

Haaland’s time away from competitive football is now nearing its end. He is expected to return to Manchester City ahead of their FA Community Shield meeting with Arsenal on Sunday.

The match will be the first occasion on which Haaland has been available since Enzo Maresca replaced Pep Guardiola in the dugout at the Etihad Stadium.

His return will provide Manchester City with their leading attacking figure as preparations for the new Premier League campaign reach their final stage. Before then, however, Haaland’s unexpected appearance in Sicily has provided a different kind of spotlight, as holidaymakers turned a glimpse of the striker on his yacht into a memorable tourist stop.

The incident also reflects the level of interest surrounding Haaland after his performances at the World Cup. Seven goals helped Norway reach the quarter-finals, where their run came to an end against England, and the striker’s growing online following has added to his public profile away from the pitch.

Rather than spending his break unnoticed, Haaland found himself being photographed by visitors who had apparently arrived on sightseeing boats. His reaction, captured in the video, showed that even one of football’s best-known forwards was surprised by the scale and spontaneity of the attention.
