Kane brings European Golden Shoe back to Bayern with second scoring crown

Harry Kane has won the European Golden Shoe for a second time after finishing the 2025-26 season with 36 Bundesliga goals for Bayern Munich.

The England captain’s latest award restores the prize to the German club and matches the total that earned Kane the individual honour in 2024. Bayern have confirmed that he will officially receive the trophy at a ceremony at the club’s museum on 19 August.

Kane’s achievement places him among a select group of players to have won the European Golden Shoe twice. Only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have claimed the award more often.

The latest recognition caps an outstanding campaign for the Bayern striker, who is also regarded as one of the leading candidates for FIFA’s world player of the year award.

Kane moved to Bayern from Tottenham in 2023 and has continued to establish himself as one of Europe’s leading forwards. His second Golden Shoe underlines his consistency in front of goal, while also extending a long tradition of elite goalscoring at Bayern.

Bayern president Herbert Hainer compared Kane with two of the club’s most celebrated attacking figures, Gerd Muller and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

“Harry Kane is one of the great attacking legends such as Gerd Muller and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, and he has continued that goalscoring legacy to this day, taking the role of the striker to a new level,” said Hainer.

“He is a light that illuminates the way for his team on and off the pitch, because he always leads with a strong personality and a team spirit.”

Bayern chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen also praised Kane’s influence beyond his goals, saying the England international had raised the profile of both the club and the Bundesliga.

“When Harry Kane plays, the whole world watches him. He has taken Bayern Munich and the Bundesliga to a new level,” said Dreesen.

“Unlike most strikers, Kane puts his responsibility towards the team ahead of his personal success. He is always thinking about his team-mates. His behaviour, ability and personality make him the most complete striker of his generation.”

Max Eberl, Bayern’s board member for sport, said Kane’s contribution could not be measured solely by the goals he scores.

“Harry is not just an outstanding goalscorer, but also a master of the hidden moments. Much of what makes his performances exceptional lies in things that cannot be seen, such as his timing, his awareness of his team-mates and his ability to create space,” said Eberl.

“His goals are the final result, but behind them is a solid foundation of football intelligence, team spirit and hard work.”

Kane’s 36-goal Bundesliga campaign therefore delivers more than another personal milestone. It also places him in the company of Messi and Ronaldo while continuing the scoring legacy associated with Bayern’s greatest forwards.
