Mohamed Salah set for Trabzonspor debut against Kasımpasa

Mohamed Salah is expected to make his first competitive appearance for Trabzonspor within days, with the Egypt captain preparing to begin his new chapter in the Turkish Super Lig against Kasımpasa on Saturday.

Trabzonspor will visit Kasımpasa in the opening round of the Turkish league. The match will be played at Kasımpasa’s stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 19:00 local time on Saturday. It will be broadcast on beIN Sports 2.

Salah joined Trabzonspor on a two-year contract as a free agent after terminating his agreement with Liverpool. The move brought an end to his nine-season spell with the English club and is expected to see him make his competitive debut for his new side in the first league fixture of the campaign.

The 34-year-old was not included in Trabzonspor’s squad for their friendly against Goztepe on Saturday. His absence came at his own request, with the match taking place only a few days after he completed his move to the Turkish club.

That friendly was therefore not used as Salah’s first appearance for Trabzonspor. Instead, he has been preparing for the start of the Turkish league, which is due to begin in the coming days. His first opportunity to play a competitive match for the club will come away from home against Kasımpasa.

Trabzonspor have also announced the financial details of the agreement with the former Liverpool forward. Salah will receive an annual salary of 10 million euros, together with a signing-on bonus of seven million euros. The guaranteed value of the deal is therefore 17 million euros.

The contract also includes performance-related financial incentives, meaning that additional payments may be triggered by Salah’s contributions during the two-year period.

Under the terms made public by Trabzonspor, Salah will additionally receive 20% of the revenue generated by official products released in his name. The club also stated that the player’s agent will receive a commission of 5%, in accordance with the details of the contract.

Salah spent nine seasons with Liverpool before moving to Trabzonspor. During his time with the Reds, he made 315 appearances, scored 257 goals and provided 120 assists.

The Egyptian international now faces the prospect of beginning his Trabzonspor career in the opening round of the Turkish Super Lig, with the trip to Kasımpasa providing the earliest scheduled opportunity for supporters to see him in a competitive fixture.
