Asyut Petroleum sign Zamalek youngster Abdel Rahman Kamal on free transfer

Asyut Petroleum have completed the signing of Zamalek youngster Abdel Rahman Kamal on a free transfer during the current summer transfer window.

Kamal has agreed a three-year contract with Asyut Petroleum after being released by Zamalek, according to FilGoal.com. The move makes him the ninth player recruited by the club this summer as they prepare for their return to the Egyptian Premier League.

The 2026-27 season will be a significant one for Asyut Petroleum, who will play in Egypt’s top flight for the first time in 16 years. Their home matches will be staged at Asyut Cement Stadium.

Kamal is one of two Zamalek academy players to join Asyut Petroleum during the current transfer period. The Cairo club have also allowed four members of their youth team to leave: Anas Wael, Ahmed Magdy, Abdel Rahman Kamal and Ayman Amir Abdel Aziz.

Of that group, Kamal and Ahmed Magdy have moved to Asyut Petroleum.

The club have been active in the transfer market as they build a squad capable of competing in the Premier League. Before the agreement with Kamal, Asyut Petroleum had already brought in Che Bolandy on loan from La Viena, while Mahmoud Alaa joined from Abu Qir Fertilizers.

Asyut Petroleum are among three clubs promoted to the Egyptian Premier League. They go up alongside Al Qanah and Abu Qir Fertilizers, completing the group of teams moving into the top division.

The promotion marks the latest stage in Asyut Petroleum’s return to the national spotlight after a 16-year absence from the Egyptian Premier League. With their recruitment programme already including experienced players from several Egyptian clubs as well as younger prospects from Zamalek, the club have continued to strengthen ahead of their first top-flight campaign in more than a decade and a half.

The signing of Kamal therefore adds another young player to a squad that has undergone considerable change this summer, while his three-year deal gives Asyut Petroleum a long-term option as they prepare for the demands of the new season.
