Senegal U17 captain Mouhamed Dabo joins Al Shamal SC until 2031

Senegalese midfielder Mouhamed Dabo has left Be Sport to join Qatari club Al Shamal SC, signing a contract that will keep him at the club until 2031.

The highly-rated midfielder, who previously captained Senegal’s Under-17 national team, had attracted interest from several European clubs in recent years but has opted to continue his development in Qatar.

Dabo’s move to Al Shamal comes after the youngster gained attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs. He had trials with FC Barcelona and Manchester United, while both clubs had considered the possibility of signing him.

Despite that interest, the midfielder has now chosen Al Shamal as the next step in his career.

Dabo leaves Be Sport after establishing himself as one of the club’s standout young players. His performances also earned him recognition at international level, where he has represented Senegal across several youth competitions.

The midfielder was part of the Senegal side that won the WAFU Zone A Under-17 tournament in 2024, contributing to a successful campaign with the Young Lions.

His international journey continued the following year when he represented Senegal at the Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco in 2025.

Dabo also featured at the Under-17 World Cup with the same generation, giving him further experience on the international stage.

His involvement with Senegal’s youth teams was not limited to the major competitions. The midfielder also took part in the UEFA U18 Friendship Tournament with the national side.

Those experiences have helped Dabo build a strong international profile at youth level and contributed to the interest he received from clubs outside Senegal.

Barcelona and Manchester United were among the European clubs to have shown interest in the young midfielder, with Dabo having the opportunity to experience trials at both sides.

However, his next destination will be Qatar, where he will continue his career with Al Shamal SC.

The agreement, which runs until 2031, gives Dabo a long-term opportunity to develop after his time at Be Sport and his progress through Senegal’s youth national teams.

For now, the former Senegal U17 captain has chosen a different route from the European clubs that had previously monitored him, with his move to Al Shamal marking the latest stage of his promising career.
