JS Kabylie close to signing goalkeeper Alexis Guendouz
JS Kabylie are close to completing a deal for Alexis Guendouz after the experienced goalkeeper reportedly reached an agreement with the Algerian club.
The 30-year-old is now expected to leave MC Alger and could become the latest addition to the JS Kabylie squad ahead of the start of the new league season.
Discussions between Guendouz and JSK have progressed to an advanced stage, with the club’s management keen to complete the move as soon as possible.
Guendouz’s potential arrival comes after the goalkeeper made his intention to leave MC Alger clear. He joined the Mouloudia last season but is reportedly no longer interested in continuing his time with the club.
The goalkeeper has also requested the return of his documents as he looks to pursue a different direction in his career.
That situation has opened the door for JS Kabylie, who have been searching for another option between the posts during the current transfer window.
JSK had considered several possibilities before turning their attention to Guendouz. Among the other names discussed was Taoufik Moussaoui, but the Paradou AC goalkeeper eventually withdrew from the proposed move.
The Kabyle club subsequently focused on Guendouz, whose experience is viewed as an important addition to the squad.
The management wants to increase competition for places in goal, a position considered particularly important by head coach Karim Belhocine.
Gaya Merbah is currently available to Belhocine, but the JSK coach is looking to have several dependable choices in the position. Guendouz would provide another experienced option if the transfer is completed.
The negotiations are now understood to be well advanced, leaving the official announcement as the next expected step.
For JS Kabylie, securing Guendouz would strengthen their goalkeeping options before the new Ligue 1 campaign begins. For the goalkeeper, meanwhile, the move would offer an opportunity to begin another chapter after his decision to seek an exit from MC Alger.
With an agreement reportedly already reached between the player and JSK management, the remaining details could pave the way for Guendouz to officially become a JS Kabylie player.
