Kaizer Chiefs and Golden Arrows reveal line-ups for MTN8 quarter-final

Kaizer Chiefs and Golden Arrows have confirmed their teams for this afternoon’s MTN8 quarter-final at FNB Stadium, although Chiefs’ starting XI is listed as still to be confirmed.

The match marks Kaizer Chiefs’ return to the competition after a two-year absence. Amakhosi have not won the MTN8 since the 2014/15 season, when they last lifted the Wafa Wafa trophy.

Kaizer Chiefs finished third in the 2025/26 Betway Premiership, while Golden Arrows ended the campaign in sixth place.

The two sides met twice in the league last season, with Kaizer Chiefs winning both games 1-0. The home side will be aiming to draw on that record, as well as the advantage of playing at FNB Stadium, to secure a positive result and progress in the knockout competition.

Both clubs have made changes to their technical structures and playing squads ahead of the new campaign. Kaizer Chiefs began their league season with a 3-1 victory over newcomers Kruger United.

Golden Arrows, however, were held to a goalless draw by Chippa United in their opening match and will be looking for a stronger attacking display in the cup tie.

Kaizer Chiefs are the most successful club in the history of the MTN8, having won the competition 15 times from 21 final appearances.

The confirmed Golden Arrows line-up is:

Golden Arrows: Maova, Jiyane, Dlamini, Mabaso, Van Neel, Shezi, Cele, Maxwele, Dion, Khumalo, Zwane.

Substitutes: Mbanjwa, Gasa, Mantshiyane, Khumalo, Sithole, Mbatha, Karelse, Van Rooi, Rakosa.

Kaizer Chiefs’ starting XI remains listed as TBC, with their substitutes also yet to be announced.

The quarter-final forms part of the opening stage of the MTN8, with both teams seeking to challenge for one of South African football’s major domestic cup prizes. Kaizer Chiefs will enter the game with confidence from their two victories over Golden Arrows last season, while Abafana Bes’thende will look to build on their defensive resilience after keeping a clean sheet against Chippa United.
