Golden Arrows defender Mabaso targets victory over Kaizer Chiefs in MTN8

Golden Arrows defender Ntandoyenkosi Mabaso says his side are travelling to FNB Stadium with only one objective: to beat Kaizer Chiefs and reach the MTN8 semi-finals.

The teams meet in the final quarter-final of the competition on Sunday evening, with kick-off scheduled for 18:00. The winner will secure a place in the last four before the semi-final draw is held.

Mabaso has made it clear that Golden Arrows are not approaching the tie simply to contain their opponents. The defender believes his team can return home with a positive result and has expressed confidence that they can overcome Kaizer Chiefs on their own ground.

“What I can say is as Arrows, as we’re going there, we will come back with good result,” said Mabaso on UKhozi FM as translated from Zulu.

“Actually, we’re going there to win.”

The match gives Golden Arrows an opportunity to improve on their record against Amakhosi from last season. Mabaso played in both league meetings between the clubs, featuring in the first and second legs, and feels Arrows were capable of producing better results in those encounters.

He has warned that Kaizer Chiefs should expect a different contest this time, with Golden Arrows determined to change the outcome.

“I’ve faced Chiefs on two occasions, I played against them in the first and second legs in the league last season,” he added.

“They will feel me this time around because they came out alive last time. We have to win this game.”

The fixture is the fourth and last MTN8 quarter-final, meaning both clubs know that victory will take them directly into the semi-final draw. For Golden Arrows, the occasion represents a chance to respond after their previous meetings with Kaizer Chiefs, while Mabaso’s comments underline the belief within the squad before the trip to FNB Stadium.

Kaizer Chiefs will have home advantage, but Mabaso insists that will not alter Arrows’ approach. His message is that the visitors will travel with an attacking mindset and a clear expectation of progressing to the next stage of the competition.

The match forms part of the 2026-27 football coverage involving the Betway Premiership and MTN8.
