Mohamed Salah effect helps Trabzonspor set new season-ticket record

Trabzonspor have sold a club-record 18,000 season tickets for the 2026-27 campaign, with the arrival of Mohamed Salah also driving shirt sales to a level usually reached over six weeks.

According to Turkish website 61saat, Trabzonspor’s shirt sales in the two days after Salah joined matched the number usually sold by the club’s store over a month and a half.

The Turkish club has now announced its latest season-ticket figure and set a further target of 25,000 tickets for the new campaign.

“Not every record is just a number… some numbers tell the story of a city’s belief, its sense of belonging, and the strength of a united community acting as one,” Trabzonspor said on X.

The club added: “Today, the title of this number is: 18,000. By reaching the milestone of 18,000 season tickets for the 2026-27 season, we have broken the historic record for season-ticket sales in our club’s history. This achievement was made possible by proper planning, collective wisdom, patience and the unity of hearts that believe in one common goal.”

Trabzonspor continued: “Because Trabzonspor has never been content with the peaks it has reached. Our story has always been about those who go beyond their own limits.”

“While we are proud of the record we achieved today, we are announcing our new target at the same time… 25,000 season tickets! This city has never accepted stopping at the summit.

“This emblem has always looked towards a new victory on the day after every achievement we have made. We thank all our supporters who contributed to this historic achievement and were part of this great journey.”

Salah has joined Trabzonspor’s training as the club prepares for the 2026-27 season, although he was not included in the squad for their friendly against Goztepe.

The match is being played as part of events marking the anniversary of former footballer Ismail Koybası.

Salah signed a two-year contract with the Turkish club. Trabzonspor said he would earn an annual salary of 10m euros, plus a signing-on bonus of 7m euros, taking his guaranteed total package to 17m euros.

The agreement also contains performance-related financial incentives linked to the player’s displays during the contract period.

Trabzonspor further stated that Salah will receive 20% of the income from official merchandise released in his name. The player’s agent is due a 5% commission, according to the published details of the contract.

Before moving to Trabzonspor, Salah spent nine seasons with Liverpool. He made 315 appearances for the Reds, scoring 257 goals and providing 120 assists.

The scale of the early commercial response has added to the attention surrounding Salah’s move, with the club’s latest ticket announcement showing the impact already being felt among Trabzonspor supporters.
