Imam Ashour returns to Al Ahly training as Hussein Ammouta outlines plans

Al Ahly midfielder Imam Ashour has returned to full team training during the club’s pre-season camp in Spain, where manager Hussein Ammouta also held a special meeting with his players.

Al Ahly completed their morning session on Saturday as preparations continued for the new campaign. The Egyptian club are scheduled to train twice on the day as part of the programme planned by their coaching staff, led by Moroccan head coach Ammouta.

Ammouta gathered the squad during the camp to explain a number of tactical points and discuss several aspects of the training schedule. The meeting took place alongside the team’s preparations in Spain, where Al Ahly are spending almost two weeks building fitness and working on their approach for the season ahead.

Ashour’s return to collective training was one of the main developments from Saturday’s session. The midfielder had been absent from the group, but took part again as the squad continued its preparations under Ammouta.

The morning workout began with a series of specialised physical exercises supervised by the club’s fitness coach. The players then moved on to several technical drills designed to develop their work with the ball.

Al Ahly’s goalkeepers completed an intensive session under the supervision of their goalkeeping coach before the training programme ended with a practice match involving the players.

The team are due to return to the training ground for their second session at 18:30 local time on Saturday.

Al Ahly’s overseas training camp is being held in Spain from 6 to 20 August. The club will end the camp with a match against Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Trophy on 19 August, one of the final opportunities for Ammouta to assess his squad before the competitive campaign begins.

The Egyptian Premier League is scheduled to start on 21 August. Al Ahly will begin their league campaign on Sunday, 23 August, when they face Eastern Company ENPPI.

Their first-round programme will conclude with a fixture against Wadi Degla.

The Spanish camp is therefore serving as a key stage in Al Ahly’s preparations, with the squad combining physical work, technical training and tactical discussions before returning home. Ammouta’s session with the players gave the head coach an opportunity to address the group directly, while Ashour’s involvement provided a further boost as the club continued its build-up to the new season.
