Yan Diomande could make Real Madrid debut against Deportivo
Real Madrid’s new record signing Yan Diomande could make his first appearance for the club against Deportivo La Coruña in the Teresa Herrera Trophy on Wednesday, August 12.
The 19-year-old Ivorian winger joined from RB Leipzig in a transfer reportedly worth around €140 million and has signed a seven-year contract running until 2033.
Diomande will not feature in Saturday’s friendly against Ferencvaros, but he could be ready for the meeting with Deportivo next week. The opportunity would give supporters an early look at one of Europe’s most exciting young attackers and Madrid’s sixth summer arrival.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool failed to complete their pursuit despite intervention from Andoni Iraola. Diomande liked the idea of playing at Anfield, and Liverpool indicated they could pay Leipzig up to €100 million after receiving encouragement from the player’s response.
However, PSG’s entry into the race changed the situation. Diomande made the French club his preference because he believed Liverpool would be entering a transition period this season. Madrid ultimately secured his signature, handing the teenager a huge stage and long-term opportunity at the Santiago Bernabéu.
