Al Nassr’s forward options narrowed by Haroun Kamara talks

Al Nassr could start the new Roshn Saudi League campaign with only two recognised strikers if Haroun Kamara completes a proposed move to Neom.

Saudi newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat reports that Neom have opened negotiations with Al Nassr to sign the 28-year-old Saudi forward on a season-long loan. Discussions between the two clubs are understood to be progressing positively, increasing the likelihood that Kamara will become the latest addition to a Neom side strengthening its squad during the current summer transfer window.

A move to Neom would make them the sixth Roshn Saudi League club Kamara has represented. His previous teams are Al Shabab, Al Ettifaq, Al Ittihad, Al Qadsiah and Al Nassr.

If both transfers are completed, Al Nassr would be left with only Cristiano Ronaldo and Abdullah Al-Hamdan as first-team strikers for the start of the new season. That situation could change if the club recruit another forward before the summer window closes.

The lack of depth would be particularly significant because Ronaldo is unlikely to feature in Al Nassr’s opening matches of the campaign. The Portugal captain may also be unable to play every game at the age of 41, potentially placing greater responsibility on Al-Hamdan to lead the attack.

Al Nassr begin their league campaign next Saturday against Al Fateh in the opening round of the Roshn Saudi League. Three days later, they face Al-Diriyah in the last 32 of the King’s Cup.

The club are aiming to retain the Saudi league title they won last season, ending a seven-year wait for the championship. They are also pursuing a first AFC Champions League Elite title in their history.

The possible loss of Kamara would therefore leave Al Nassr with a reduced attacking group just as they prepare for a campaign featuring domestic and continental ambitions. The club’s next move in the transfer market could determine whether Ronaldo and Al-Hamdan remain the only available senior forwards or are joined by a new signing before competitive action begins.
