FIFA lifts Chippa United transfer ban as TS Galaxy become only PSL club blacklisted

Chippa United have been cleared to register new players after FIFA lifted a three-window transfer ban imposed on the Betway Premiership club.

The ban had been linked to a dispute involving Burkina Faso midfielder Roland Sanou, who took Chippa United to FIFA after alleging that the club had breached his contract. Sanou won the case, prompting FIFA to order the club to comply with the ruling.

FIFA listed Chippa United among the clubs barred from completing registrations earlier this week, placing the Eastern Cape side on the governing body’s registration ban list.

However, the club maintained that the matter had already been resolved and said all outstanding payments had been made. FIFA confirmed on Friday that the ban, which had been active overnight, had been lifted.

That decision leaves Chippa United free to register additions for the new season. The club had also recently resolved a separate dispute involving Luc Eymael, another matter that required FIFA’s intervention.

Sanou spent a short period with Chippa United three years ago before his contract was terminated. The circumstances surrounding that termination eventually led him to pursue the case through FIFA’s legal processes.

With the Sanou matter now cleared, Chippa United are no longer subject to an active international registration ban.

TS Galaxy are now the only PSL club remaining on FIFA’s blacklist.

Their ban has been in effect since 27 February 2026 and will remain active until FIFA removes it. Club boss Tim Sukazi has said the restriction relates to bureaucratic issues connected to the FIFA Clearing House.

The Clearing House system is part of FIFA’s process for handling financial distributions linked to international transfers, although no further details about the TS Galaxy matter have been provided.

Chippa United’s removal from the list brings an end to a week of uncertainty for the club, whose name had appeared on FIFA’s registration ban list despite its insistence that the dispute with Sanou had been settled.

The club can now proceed with its preparations for the coming season without the restriction affecting the registration of its new players.
