Ivan Toney charged with assault and causing bodily harm, says Sky Sports

England striker Ivan Toney has been charged with assault and causing bodily harm over an incident at a nightclub in London in December 2025, according to Sky Sports.

Toney, who plays for Al-Ahli, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 24 September. The hearing comes just two days before England are scheduled to face Spain, the world champions, in the UEFA Nations League.

A spokesperson for the 30-year-old said: “Ivan acknowledges that he has been charged and, while naturally shocked by the nature of the allegation, he looks forward to the opportunity to prove his innocence in court.”

Sky Sports reported that the charge relates to an alleged assault on Wardour Street in central London. No further details about the incident have been disclosed.

Toney is expected to appear before the court as England prepare for their Nations League fixture against Spain. His court appearance will therefore take place during a significant period for the national team, with the match scheduled only two days later.

The striker played for England at the World Cup this summer. He came on as a substitute against Argentina in the semi-final before being named in the starting line-up for the third-place play-off against France.

Toney moved to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli in the summer of 2024 from Brentford in a deal worth £40m. During his time with the English club, he scored 72 goals in 141 appearances.

He had previously missed the first half of the 2023-24 season after receiving a ban for betting-related breaches. Toney returned to action later in the campaign and went on to represent England at Euro 2024.

The charge is an allegation, and Toney has not been convicted of any offence. His spokesperson said the player would use the court process to establish his innocence.
