Kaizer Chiefs complete season-long loan signing of Stellenbosch youngster Faiz Abrahams

Stellenbosch FC have confirmed that Faiz Abrahams has joined Kaizer Chiefs on a season-long loan for the 2026-27 campaign, with the Betway Premiership club holding an option to make the move permanent.

The 21-year-old midfielder becomes the third Stellenbosch player to move to the Naturena-based side this season, following Langelihle Phili and Thabo Moloisane.

Abrahams arrives at Kaizer Chiefs after previously spending time on loan with Israeli club Hapoel Kfar Saba. He also attracted interest from Durban City, although that move did not go through after the parties failed to reach an agreement over personal terms. A proposed switch to Orlando Pirates also fell through.

Stellenbosch confirmed the deal in a statement, while wishing the player well as he begins his latest challenge with the club known as the Glamour Boys.

“Faiz Abrahams has completed a move to Kaizer Chiefs on a season-long loan for the 2026-27 campaign,” the club said.

“In terms of the loan agreement, Kaizer Chiefs retain the option to purchase Abrahams’ services outright at the end of the season.

“The 21-year-old joined Stellenbosch in 2024 and has made five senior appearances for the Club to date, either side of a loan spell with Israeli side Hapoel Kfar Saba.

“We wish Faiz all the best in his future endeavours.”

Abrahams developed at the iKamva Academy before progressing into senior football with Cape Town Spurs. His performances there earned him a move to Stellenbosch, where he joined in 2024.

He has made five senior appearances for Stellenbosch so far, with those outings coming before and after his loan spell in Israel. Last season, he gained experience at Hapoel Kfar Saba as he continued his development away from the Cape Winelands club.

The youngster was also part of the South Africa Under-20 squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt in 2025. That success formed part of his rise through the national-team pathway and helped underline his potential at international youth level.

Kaizer Chiefs will now provide Abrahams with an opportunity to establish himself at one of South Africa’s most prominent clubs during the current campaign. The agreement gives the club the option to retain him permanently at the conclusion of the loan, while Stellenbosch will monitor his progress during the season.

The move adds another Stellenbosch connection to the Kaizer Chiefs squad after the arrivals of Phili and Moloisane. For Abrahams, it represents a fresh chance to build on his experience with Cape Town Spurs, Stellenbosch and Hapoel Kfar Saba as he seeks a regular role with the Glamour Boys.
