Mohamed Salah move will make history for Trabzonspor, says Sayed Moawad

Sayed Moawad believes Mohamed Salah’s expected move to Trabzonspor will create a historic chapter for the Turkish club and the city, describing the Egypt forward as a global brand and a player capable of transforming the team.

The former Egypt international, who spent part of the 2008 season with Trabzonspor, said he was surprised by criticism of the proposed transfer and insisted Salah would not make such an important decision without careful consideration.

“Mohamed Salah is a global brand and he will be a major addition to Trabzonspor. I believe it is an excellent step because Mohamed Salah will make history for the club and the city as well,” Moawad told FilGoal.com.

Salah has reportedly agreed to join Trabzonspor, with the club announcing the date of a presentation ceremony for their new signing. The Egypt international wore a Trabzonspor shirt for the first time on the plane after arriving in Turkey through Istanbul Airport.

In a message to supporters, Salah said: “Trabzon, are you ready? I can hear you, and I will see you for the first time.”

The forward is due to undergo a medical in Trabzon before signing his contract with the Turkish club. Trabzonspor said Salah would arrive at Trabzon Airport at 20:00 local time in Egypt and Turkey on Wednesday.

He is expected to sign a two-year contract and earn 17m euros per season, with additional clauses and bonuses included in the agreement.

Moawad said Salah’s record in English football and European competitions made him well qualified to judge the next stage of his career.

“I am surprised by the criticism directed at this deal because Salah studies his decisions carefully, especially when we are talking about a player who has made history in the Premier League and European competitions,” he said.

He also highlighted the intensity of support for Trabzonspor, explaining that the club’s surroundings and matchday atmosphere would make the move especially significant.

“Trabzon is a small city on the sea, and its residents love the club. The team’s stadium is full of supporters for most matches,” Moawad added.

He believes Salah’s arrival would have an impact well beyond his performances on the pitch.

“Having Mohamed Salah will change many things. He is a legend by every measure. My experience with Trabzonspor was short, but they have supporters who are deeply passionate about this team,” he said.

Moawad played for Trabzonspor in 2008, giving him first-hand knowledge of the club and its fanbase. He said that experience, although brief, left him aware of the strength of the bond between the Turkish side and its supporters.
