Real Madrid move for Yan Diomande edges closer as RB Leipzig winger returns to training

Yan Diomande has rejoined RB Leipzig’s pre-season training camp in Austria after fully recovering from the infection that had kept him out in recent days, but the Ivorian winger’s return has not halted speculation over a move to Real Madrid.

The young prospect is now considered physically fit and has resumed work with his team-mates, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg. His future remains one of the main talking points of the summer transfer window.

Despite Diomande’s return to the RB Leipzig group, discussions between the German club and Real Madrid are continuing and are understood to be at an advanced stage. The negotiations are taking place in a calm atmosphere, with no indication that the proposed transfer is in danger of collapsing.

A report by Arancha Rodriguez of Spanish media outlet COPE has also stated that the deal is expected to be completed in the next few hours.

The overall value of the transfer is expected to rise well above 120m euros. That figure would underline the confidence Real Madrid have in Diomande’s potential and in his ability to develop into a significant player for the club.

However, the final approval needed for Diomande to undergo his medical examination with Real Madrid has still not been granted. The remaining details of the agreement must be completed before the transfer can be formally announced.

Diomande remains under contract with RB Leipzig until 30 June 2030. His market value is estimated at 90m euros by Transfermarkt, although the anticipated fee for the move is expected to be considerably higher.

The player currently earns an annual salary of 750,000 euros in Germany, equivalent to 487,500,000 FCFA.

For now, Diomande is back with RB Leipzig as preparations continue in Austria. His participation in training provides confirmation that he has recovered from the infection, while the unresolved medical clearance means the next stage of his proposed move to Real Madrid is still awaiting approval.

The transfer will therefore remain incomplete until the final points are settled and the medical process is authorised. Nevertheless, the discussions between the two clubs continue, and reports from both Plettenberg and Rodriguez indicate that an agreement is close to being finalised.
