Vinicius focuses on Real Madrid future despite growing transfer speculation
Vinicius Junior has hinted that he intends to remain at Real Madrid, insisting that his focus is on preparing for the new season despite ongoing speculation linking him with a move away from the Spanish giants.
The Brazilian forward, whose contract expires next summer, has yet to agree an extension with Madrid, fuelling reports that Arsenal could make an approach during the current transfer window.
However, the 26-year-old appeared to send a clear message about his commitment to the club as he spoke about pre-season preparations and his role under new coach Jose Mourinho.
Brazilian embraces Mourinho project
Vinicius said he has adapted well to life under Mourinho and is determined to maintain the qualities that have made him one of Real Madrid’s most influential players.
“Things have gone well. I’ve met the new coach and the new players and I’ve trained hard. Mourinho wants me to be the way I’ve always been: happy, cheerful, and playing my own style of football.”
The forward also stressed the importance of physical preparation as Madrid look to avoid injuries throughout a demanding campaign.
“We need to prepare ourselves physically so that injuries decrease during the season and we can rely on everyone.”
Contract talks still unresolved
Despite uncertainty surrounding his long-term future, Vinicius insisted that his immediate attention remains on pre-season training rather than contract negotiations.
The Brazilian is still waiting for talks with Real Madrid officials in an attempt to reach an agreement over a new deal, but there has been no indication that an exit is imminent.
Speaking about the intensity of the team’s preparations, Vinicius added: “A double training session yesterday, and one session today. That’s how it goes. Today we did some exercises in the gym and short exercises to strengthen our leg muscles. It was a good training session, and we all left very tired, but now it’s time to rest in preparation for tomorrow. That’s how the preseason is, and we have to be ready.”
Future remains open
Although Vinicius’ comments suggest he is committed to Real Madrid’s new project, questions over his future are unlikely to disappear until a new contract is signed.
For now, however, the Brazilian appears focused on helping Madrid prepare for the upcoming season, while supporters wait to see whether negotiations over an extension will finally produce a breakthrough.
