Algeria have moved up one place to 28th in the latest FIFA world rankings after ending the international window with two wins and a draw.
The Greens recorded a victory over Niger in a friendly after beating Zambia and drawing with Burundi in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches.
Those results were enough to lift Algeria from 29th to 28th in the latest rankings.
Algeria benefited from a drop in the positions of Nigeria and Turkey, who both fell four places. Nigeria are now 30th, while Turkey sit 31st in the updated world rankings.
The one-place rise represents a modest improvement for Algeria following their latest run of international matches.
The Fennecs have also returned to the top four in the African rankings. They are now fourth on the continent, behind Morocco, Senegal and Egypt.
Morocco remain the highest-ranked African nation in seventh place in the world. Senegal are 18th, while Egypt occupy 25th.
Ivory Coast are fifth among African teams and 29th in the world, leaving them just one place behind Algeria in the latest rankings.
The narrow gap between the two sides means Algeria have little room for error if they are to maintain their position among Africa’s leading teams.
At the top of the global rankings, Spain remain in first place following their recent success. Argentina are second and France are third, with the leading trio continuing to occupy the top positions in world football.
Algeria’s next matches will come against Togo in a double-header in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Those two games will give the Fennecs another opportunity to collect points and strengthen their position in the FIFA rankings.
The national team will enter the fixtures after a positive international window in which they recorded two victories and one draw.
Their rise from 29th to 28th means Algeria have made progress in the latest rankings, while their return to Africa’s top four adds to the improvement following their recent results.
The upcoming matches against Togo will now provide another chance for Algeria to continue that progress and further improve their position.
