Girona consider move for unattached Ghanaian-Nigerian centre-back Abdul Mumin
Ghanaian-Nigerian defender Abdul Mumin, currently without a club, is being linked with a move to Girona in Spain’s second tier.
The 28-year-old centre-back left Rayo Vallecano on 1 July after four seasons with the Madrid-based club. He joined Rayo from Vitoria Guimaraes in September 2022 for a reported €1.5m and went on to make 63 La Liga appearances, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
Mumin developed in Denmark after moving from Ghanaian academy Dawu Dream SA to Right to Dream in 2011. He joined Nordsjaelland’s youth setup in 2016 and later made his senior breakthrough in Denmark, including a loan spell at HB Køge during the 2017-18 season.
He moved to Portugal with Vitoria Guimaraes in 2020 before establishing himself in Spain. His career record also includes 51 appearances in Liga Portugal and 33 in Denmark’s Superliga.
Girona’s reported interest comes as Mumin assesses his next club after ending his time at Rayo. The defender, who is right-footed and listed at 1.88m, has a current market valuation of €3m.
No agreement has been confirmed, and the rumour remains at the stage of a potential move to Girona.
