Mitrovica strengthen defence with Nigeria centre-back Chukwujekwu Ajanah-Chinedu

Nigeria centre-back Chukwujekwu Ajanah-Chinedu has joined Kosovo club Mitrovica from Galanta B on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old completed the move on 4 August 2026, switching clubs after less than a year with the Slovak side. Ajanah-Chinedu had joined Galanta B in September 2025 after a period without a club.

Ajanah-Chinedu is a right-footed central defender who stands 1.88m tall. He was born in Umuneri, Nigeria, and began his senior career with ABS FC before moving to Katsina United in January 2018.

He left Nigeria for Montenegro in July 2019, joining OFK Titograd from Katsina United. The defender later moved to Hungary, where he signed for Ujpest II in July 2020. His time with the club included loan spells at NK Belisce in Croatia and Vineta Wolin in Poland.

Ajanah-Chinedu returned to Ujpest II from Vineta Wolin at the end of December 2024, before leaving the Hungarian club permanently in July 2025. He subsequently spent time without a club until his move to Galanta B two months later.

His career record includes 76 appearances and three goals in the Nigerian Professional Football League. He also made 20 appearances in Montenegro’s Meridianbet 1. CFL, scoring twice, and featured in domestic cup competitions in Montenegro, Slovakia and Poland.

The defender has also played in European competition, making two appearances in Europa League qualifying during his career. His most recent previous club was Galanta B, where he spent the period before completing his move to Mitrovica.

The transfer adds a Nigerian defender with experience across leagues in Africa and Europe to Mitrovica’s squad. Ajanah-Chinedu’s previous career has included football in Nigeria, Montenegro, Hungary, Croatia, Poland and Slovakia.

He has now begun the next stage of his career in Kosovo, with Mitrovica becoming the latest club to secure his services.

Chukwujekwu Ajanah-Chinedu completed his free transfer from Galanta B to Mitrovica on 4 August 2026.
