Genesis Antwi joins Strasbourg on loan from Chelsea

Genesis Antwi has joined Strasbourg on a season-long loan from Chelsea, taking the next step in a career that has moved quickly through several levels of the game.

The 19-year-old defender will spend the campaign in Ligue 1 as he looks to gain more senior experience in France.

Antwi’s path began in Sweden with Hammarby before he moved to Chelsea’s academy at the age of 11. He worked his way through the Cobham system, became part of the senior setup in 2025, and made his first-team debut in a 1-0 win over Copenhagen in the UEFA Conference League on 13 March 2025.

He also featured regularly for Chelsea’s Under-21 side over the past two seasons and signed a new three-year deal last September before this loan move was arranged. Strasbourg hope his arrival will add depth and energy to their back line as they prepare for the new season. Fans will also be watching closely to see whether he can strengthen the defence in Ligue 1.

Antwi is now expected to link up with his new teammates and settle in quickly before the campaign begins.
