Mohamed Amoura links to RB Leipzig fade as club targets Fisnik Asllani

Reports of an imminent move for Mohamed Amoura to RB Leipzig have been played down, with no contact or negotiations believed to have taken place between the German club and the Algeria international.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, the claims circulating in recent hours are not supported by any confirmed discussions. He reports that RB Leipzig, VfL Wolfsburg and the other parties involved have categorically denied that negotiations over Amoura are under way.

The latest update casts doubt on suggestions that Leipzig are preparing to make a move for the 24-year-old forward. While Amoura has been linked with the Bundesliga club, there is currently no indication that a transfer process has begun between Leipzig and the player.

Instead, Leipzig’s recruitment focus is believed to be elsewhere. The club are reportedly working actively to complete the signing of Fisnik Asllani, who is said to be their priority target as they seek to strengthen their attacking options.

That means Amoura is not currently at the centre of Leipzig’s plans, despite the reports that prompted speculation about a possible transfer. Plettenberg’s information suggests that the German side’s attention is directed towards finalising a deal for Asllani rather than opening talks for the Algerian striker.

Amoura remains under contract with VfL Wolfsburg until June 2029. His long-term agreement means Wolfsburg retain control of his future, although the player’s current market value is estimated at €20m by Transfermarkt.

The Algerian forward is also reported to earn an annual salary of €4,720,000, equivalent to 3,068,000,000 FCFA. Those figures provide the financial context surrounding any potential move, although no negotiations with RB Leipzig have been confirmed.

For now, the reported transfer appears to remain speculation rather than an active deal. Leipzig have been linked with Amoura, but the information from Plettenberg indicates that neither the club nor the relevant parties recognise the existence of talks. The immediate priority for the club is instead understood to be Asllani, as Leipzig work to reinforce their attack.
