Wilfried Singo chooses another season at Galatasaray despite Newcastle United and Inter Milan interest

Wilfried Singo has decided to remain at Galatasaray for at least one more season, despite interest from Newcastle United and Inter Milan. The 25-year-old Ivory Coast defender is not believed to be in a hurry to leave the Istanbul club and has rejected the prospect of moving to another major European league for now.

According to journalist Ali Naci Kucuk, speaking on Dici Futbol, Newcastle United made an approach in an attempt to persuade Singo to move to the Premier League. Inter Milan also reportedly made enquiries about the former Torino player, but neither club’s interest has changed his position.

Singo’s preference is to continue his development with Galatasaray rather than make an immediate move. He is understood to view another season in Turkey as an important stage in his progress before considering a transfer to one of Europe’s leading competitions.

The Ivorian international remains under contract with Galatasaray until June 2030, leaving the club in a strong position should interest in him develop into formal transfer offers. His long-term deal also underlines the importance of the defender to the Istanbul side, while his projected market value makes him an attractive option for clubs seeking a player with further room to improve.

Transfermarkt currently values Singo at 23 million euros. That figure reflects the regard in which he is held by some of Europe’s biggest clubs, even though he appears ready to delay a move away from Galatasaray.

Singo earns an annual salary of 8,000,000 euros in Turkey, equivalent to 5,200,000,000 FCFA. His current agreement gives him security at club level while allowing him to focus on continuing his development during another campaign with Galatasaray.

For Newcastle United, the decision means their efforts to bring the former Torino defender to the Premier League have not yet succeeded. Inter Milan’s interest has also failed to alter Singo’s plans, with the player instead prioritising stability and further progress in Istanbul.

His choice does not rule out a future transfer. Singo’s contract runs through June 2030, and his current valuation of 23 million euros means he is likely to remain on the radar of leading European clubs. For now, however, his immediate ambition is to stay with Galatasaray for another season before deciding whether the time is right to pursue a new challenge.
