Durban City agree two-year deal for Rwanda striker Byiringiro Lague

Durban City have agreed a two-year contract with Rwanda international striker Byiringiro Lague, who is set to join the Betway Premiership club on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old is expected to arrive in Durban on 7 August after agreeing terms with Farook Kadodia’s side following positive negotiations.

Byiringiro recently left Police FC in Rwanda when his contract with the club expired. He is now poised to become Durban City’s ninth signing as the new Betway Premiership season gets under way.

Sources at Durban City have confirmed that an agreement has been reached with the forward. However, club owner Kadodia stopped short of confirming the move when contacted by the Siya Crew on Friday.

Durban City have already added eight players to their squad during the current transfer window. Their previous signings are Gaston Sirino, Junior Papier, Kabelo Mofokeng, Lifa Makua, Siya Msomi, John Mokone, Tylo Sanger and Seth Green.

The arrival of Byiringiro would give the club another attacking option alongside that group of additions. His move would also mark a switch from Police FC in his home country to the South African top flight, with the striker joining Durban City without a transfer fee after the end of his previous contract.

The agreement comes as Durban City begin their Betway Premiership campaign. The club, owned by Kadodia, have continued to strengthen their squad with a series of additions, and Byiringiro’s proposed arrival would complete another significant piece of their recruitment.

The Rwanda international’s contract is expected to run for two years. While the club have not formally announced the signing, the agreement has been confirmed by sources and Byiringiro’s arrival in Durban is anticipated on 7 August.
