Guinea earned third place at the UFOA A U17 tournament and secured qualification for the next Africa Cup of Nations U17 with a controlled 2-0 win over Liberia at Stade Leopold Sedar Senghor on Sunday.
The Syli National youngsters produced a disciplined tactical performance to claim the bronze medal in the regional competition and take the third qualifying place available to the zone.
The first half was closely contested, with neither side able to break the deadlock before the interval. The score remained 0-0 at half-time.
Guinea eventually found a way through in the 64th minute, when the Syli Cadet opened the scoring. They then doubled their advantage in the 76th minute to put the result beyond doubt.
Boubacar Diallo was named man of the match after helping Guinea complete a decisive victory in the third-place play-off.
The result confirms Guinea’s place at the next Africa Cup of Nations U17, where they will represent the UFOA A zone alongside Senegal and Gambia.
