Zamalek reject interest in Juan Bezerra as Ahmed Soliman confirms ‘big offer’

Zamalek have no intention of selling Juan Bezerra despite receiving what board member Ahmed Soliman described as a “big offer” for the player.

Soliman said the Egyptian club were determined to retain the winger and would not sell any member of their squad, despite the interest in the player who helped them win the Egyptian Premier League last season.

“We signed Bezerra for $1.8m and now we have a big offer for him,” Soliman said in an interview with MBC Masr.

But he insisted that the existence of a substantial proposal did not mean Zamalek were preparing to accept it.

“We do not want to sell Bezerra and we will not sell any player,” he added. “We have learned a lesson about protecting the rights of foreign players, especially on an ongoing basis.”

Bezerra joined Zamalek at the beginning of last season from Ukrainian club Oleksandriya. He went on to play a role in the club’s success as Zamalek won the Egyptian Premier League for the 15th time in their history.

The Cairo-based side also reached the final of the CAF Confederation Cup during the same campaign.

Zamalek’s preparations for the new season begin on Saturday, with the club’s training camp scheduled to start on 1 August.

Soliman’s comments offer a clear indication of the club’s current position on Bezerra’s future. Although Zamalek have received a significant offer, their stated policy is to keep the player and avoid selling any member of the squad.

The remarks also reflect the club’s intention to manage their foreign players’ contractual situations more carefully. Soliman referred to lessons learned about protecting the rights of overseas players, while stressing that the club would address those matters continuously rather than allowing them to become problems later.

Bezerra’s importance to Zamalek has increased since his arrival from Oleksandriya. His contribution came during a season in which the club secured the Egyptian Premier League title and also progressed to the CAF Confederation Cup final.

For now, Zamalek’s message is that the offer has not changed their position: Bezerra is not for sale, and the club do not plan to part with any of their players as the new season gets under way.
