Stellenbosch FC sign former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Kgaogelo Ramushu

Stellenbosch FC have confirmed the signing of former Kaizer Chiefs and Polokwane City midfielder Kgaogelo Ramushu on a long-term contract ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Ramushu, who previously spent time with the reserves at Kaizer Chiefs, becomes the latest addition to Stellenbosch’s squad as the club prepares for the new Betway Premiership campaign. The Cape Winelands side announced the move after the midfielder completed his switch from Polokwane City.

The 2026-27 season will provide Ramushu with a fresh opportunity after a limited spell of first-team football at his former club. He made only two Betway Premiership appearances for Polokwane City during the previous campaign.

Stellenbosch confirmed the midfielder’s arrival in a statement, saying: “Ramushu has joined Stellenbosch FC ahead of the 2026-27 season after spending the previous campaign with Polokwane City, where he made two Betway Premiership appearances last term.”

Ramushu joined Kaizer Chiefs from the former Bidvest Wits in 2021 and played for the club’s reserves. However, he did not make a senior appearance for Amakhosi before departing in March 2025.

He subsequently joined Polokwane City and was on the club’s books during the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons. His time with Rise & Shine produced two appearances before he moved to Stellenbosch.

The midfielder said he was delighted to join a club whose performances and footballing structure had impressed him over a number of years. He also made clear his ambition to help Stellenbosch challenge for trophies.

“It’s an amazing feeling to be here,” he said. “I’ve watched Stellenbosch play over the years and always been impressed by the structure and style of play. This is a team capable of competing for trophies, and I hope to play my part.

“I can’t wait to play in front of our fans, and I hope they come out in their numbers to support. The Stellenbosch supporters play a big part in the team prospering, so I’ll give my all for the badge to make them happy.”

The move gives Ramushu the chance to continue his career at Stellenbosch after his limited involvement at Polokwane City. It also reunites him with the Betway Premiership following his two league appearances for Rise & Shine last term.

For Stellenbosch, the signing adds a midfielder with previous experience at both Kaizer Chiefs and Polokwane City. Ramushu will now look to establish himself at the Cape Winelands club and contribute to its pursuit of silverware during the 2026-27 season.

His immediate focus will be on settling into the Stellenbosch squad and earning opportunities under the club’s structure and style of play, which he identified as key reasons for his excitement about the move.
