Bayern outline long-term plan for German-Nigerian teenager Wisdom Mike after injury return

Bayern Munich have mapped out a long-term development plan for teenage prospect Wisdom Mike as the 17-year-old continues his recovery from injury.

The attacking player, regarded as one of the brightest talents at Bayern’s academy, has returned to training after spending around four months on the sidelines with a hip muscle problem.

Club officials remain confident that Mike can eventually break into the first team, but are determined to manage his comeback carefully.

Teenager skips Asia tour to focus on recovery

According to Sky Sport, Mike recently took part in Bayern’s short pre-season training camp in Tegernsee, training alongside Vincent Kompany’s senior squad.

However, the youngster will not travel with the team on their upcoming tour of Asia, with Bayern opting instead to prioritise his physical recovery.

In agreement with Kompany, Mike will remain at the club’s training base on Säbener Straße, where he will continue an individual programme designed to rebuild his fitness and gradually prepare him for the demands of competitive football.

The 17-year-old is working alongside several first-team stars, including Jamal Musiala, Serge Gnabry, new signing Ismael Saibari and highly rated prospect Lennart Karl.

Bayern consider next step

Bayern’s current plan is for Mike to regain match sharpness with the club’s under-23 side in the Regionalliga Bayern.

The German champions, however, are keeping their options open regarding the youngster’s future development.

Reports suggest that a number of clubs in Germany and abroad remain interested in taking Mike on loan, with Bayern prepared to consider a temporary move if the right opportunity emerges.

Long-term project at Bayern

For now, the priority remains the player’s full recovery after his lengthy spell out of action.

Mike joined Bayern’s academy from Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2022 and has since established himself as one of the standout talents at the Bayern Campus.

The club is keen to avoid rushing his return and hopes that a gradual reintegration will provide the foundations for a successful transition to professional football in the years ahead.
