Shadi Hussein joins Al Mokawloon Al Arab after talks with Ghazl El Mahalla collapse

Al Mokawloon Al Arab have completed the signing of former Al Ahly forward Shadi Hussein on a free transfer after his departure from ZED.

The 33-year-old became a free agent at the end of his contract with ZED and has now been officially unveiled by Al Mokawloon Al Arab, who confirmed the deal on Thursday.

Hussein had been close to agreeing a move to Ghazl El Mahalla earlier in the window, but negotiations ultimately broke down and the transfer did not go through, paving the way for Al Mokawloon Al Arab to step in.

Free agent move after ZED spell

Hussein spent last season with ZED, making 31 appearances in all competitions.

He scored four goals and provided four assists during the campaign, offering both a finishing threat and creativity in the final third.

His performances for ZED ensured there was interest in his services once it became clear he would not be extending his contract with the club.

Experienced forward with top-flight pedigree

Over the course of his career, Hussein has represented three Egyptian clubs at senior level: Al Ahly, Ceramica Cleopatra and ZED.

His time at Al Ahly gave him experience at one of Africa’s most high-profile clubs, while his spells at Ceramica Cleopatra and ZED helped establish him as a regular in the Egyptian Premier League.

The move to Al Mokawloon Al Arab marks the latest chapter in a career that has seen him feature for sides competing regularly in Egypt’s top flight.
