Al Ittihad to rest four players for Malaga friendly as precaution over muscle fatigue

Al Ittihad Jeddah will be without four players for their pre-season friendly against Spanish side Malaga after the club’s medical staff opted to rest them due to minor muscle fatigue.

The Saudi Pro League club, currently on a training camp in Spain to prepare for the new season, confirmed that Abdulrahman Al-Aboud, Youssef En-Nesyri, Marwan Al-Sahafi and Farha Al-Shamrani will not feature in the game.

In a statement, Al Ittihad said the medical team had recommended that the quartet be spared from participation against Malaga after they showed signs of slight muscular fatigue.

Precautionary decision

The club stressed that the move is precautionary and forms part of a wider strategy to protect players from physical problems and to prevent any minor muscular issues from developing into more serious injuries.

Al Ittihad added that the decision is aimed at ensuring the long-term fitness of the players as the team steps up its build-up to the forthcoming campaign.

Rehabilitation programme in place

The four players are currently undergoing a tailored treatment and rehabilitation programme under the supervision of the club’s medical staff.

They will return to full team training and match involvement once they receive medical clearance and their condition allows them to resume normal participation.

Al Ittihad are using their Spanish training camp to work on fitness and tactical preparations ahead of the new season, with the Malaga friendly forming part of their warm-up schedule.
