Real Madrid intensify push to land RB Leipzig’s Yanmar Doue before pre-season camp deadline

Real Madrid are accelerating efforts to sign RB Leipzig winger Yanmar Doue, with the Spanish club aiming to complete a deal before the Bundesliga side depart for their pre-season camp in Austria on Saturday.

German journalist Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sport Germany reported on Thursday that Real Madrid are “pushing” to finalise an agreement with Leipzig in the coming days, as negotiations between the clubs continue.

According to Plettenberg, Madrid held fresh talks with Leipzig again on Thursday in a bid to make progress before the German team travel to their training camp.

Doue, who is 19 and represents Ivory Coast, remains under contract at Leipzig and is currently still with the squad. Plettenberg said the player is handling the situation calmly as discussions take place over his future.

“Doue is still in Leipzig and is dealing with the process professionally and patiently all the time, waiting for an agreement to be reached between the two clubs. The deal is ongoing,” Plettenberg posted on X.

Competing interest from PSG, Liverpool and Man City

Real Madrid are not alone in their pursuit of the highly rated wide player.

The same report states that Paris Saint-Germain are also actively competing for Doue’s signature, while both Liverpool and Manchester City have been credited with an interest in the Ivory Coast international.

No details have yet emerged over any formal offers or the financial terms under discussion between Leipzig and the interested clubs, but Madrid’s intention is to move quickly given Leipzig’s imminent departure for Austria.

Breakthrough season in Bundesliga

Doue joined RB Leipzig in the summer of 2025 from Spanish club Leganes and went on to deliver an eye-catching campaign in the Bundesliga.

Operating primarily as a winger, he impressed sufficiently in his debut season in German football to attract attention from several of Europe’s leading sides.

His performances in the league have underpinned Real Madrid’s determination to bring him to the Santiago Bernabeu, while also drawing interest from PSG and Premier League pair Liverpool and Manchester City.

Leipzig are due to fly to their pre-season training camp in Austria on Saturday, a date which has now effectively become an informal deadline for Madrid’s initial push to conclude the transfer.

For now, Doue continues to train with Leipzig as he waits for clarity over whether an agreement can be struck that would see him leave the Bundesliga club after just one season.
