Ester Exposito issues legal threat over ‘false’ personal-life rumours amid Mbappe speculation

Spanish actress Ester Exposito says she is prepared to take legal action over what she calls “false and defamatory” claims about her private life, as speculation continues over her reported relationship with Real Madrid and France forward Kylian Mbappe.

The 24-year-old, known internationally for her role in the Netflix series Elite, released a strongly worded statement on her social media accounts, rejecting recent stories about her and insisting they bear no relation to reality or to her character.

In the message, Exposito did not specify which reports she was referring to, but Spanish newspaper Sport linked the post to persistent rumours in recent months of tension or a cooling in her alleged relationship with Mbappe.

“For months, and especially in recent days, headlines and false and defamatory information have been circulating on social media about me and my personal life which have nothing to do with the truth or with who I am,” she wrote.

She added that the content being shared amounted to “absurd rumours” invented “with the aim of distorting a story between two people and attacking my dignity”, stressing that “not everything is allowed” in the name of public discussion.

Legal action warning

Exposito said she now felt compelled to act after weeks of intensified speculation, arguing that what is being said about her has crossed a line and is damaging her public image.

“This time I find myself forced to put a stop to this and to take legal action against those responsible,” her statement continued, as she warned individuals and outlets who publish or amplify what she deems defamatory material.

According to Sport, the actress believes the ongoing chatter about her private life is harming her reputation and has called on followers not to accept at face value the wave of unverified claims, particularly those spreading on X.

She made clear she is ready to pursue legal steps against anyone who creates or disseminates content intended to smear her or to profit from the attention surrounding her name.

Relationship speculation with Mbappe

Exposito and Mbappe have never publicly confirmed they are a couple and have consistently kept any relationship away from the spotlight, but speculation about a possible crisis between them has intensified, especially since the World Cup.

Mbappe previously posted a photograph of himself with Exposito wearing a France national team shirt, before later deleting the image – a move that fuelled further conjecture over the nature of their connection and the truth behind the stories circulating about them.

In recent weeks, reports have multiplied about an alleged rift between the pair, particularly following Mbappe’s World Cup involvement and their apparent absence together from various public events. Neither Exposito nor Mbappe has issued any comment to either confirm or deny those claims.

Other names drawn in

Magazine Hola has suggested that Exposito’s statement may also relate to Mexican actor Alejandro Speitzer, amid rumours linking his name to several public figures.

While Exposito did not mention Speitzer or Mbappe directly, Hola reported that the actress’s frustration stems from seeing her personal life repeatedly used as material for online gossip and speculative headlines.

Protecting image and reputation

Exposito ended her message by underlining that safeguarding her public image and professional reputation is now her main priority.

She argued that freedom of expression “cannot be used as an excuse” to spread accusations or supposed information that are not supported by evidence, reiterating her stance that she is ready to defend herself in court if necessary.
