Egypt handball team seal Adidas kit deal ahead of 2027 World Championship

The Egyptian Handball Federation has signed a strategic partnership with German sportswear giant Adidas, confirming that the Egypt men’s national handball team will wear Adidas kits in upcoming international competitions, including the 2027 World Championship in Germany.

The agreement was unveiled at an official ceremony attended by Youth and Sports Minister Johar Nabil and Egyptian Handball Federation president Fathi, alongside several leading national team players.

Among those present were Ibrahim El-Masry, Seif El-Deraa and Abdelrahman Hamid, whose involvement was framed as a sign of unified backing from within the Egyptian handball community for the new partnership. Officials described the deal as a fresh step towards providing the best possible resources for Egypt’s national teams and sustaining their recent run of success.

Adidas will supply match and training apparel for the national side, with the federation positioning the collaboration as part of its broader preparations for the next World Championship cycle.

World Championship draw confirmed

Egypt are gearing up for the 2027 IHF Men’s World Championship, which will be staged in Germany, and have been drawn in Group B of the preliminary round.

Group B features Egypt alongside Italy, Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia.

The full World Championship group draw is as follows:

– Group A: Germany, Serbia, Tunisia, Uruguay – Group B: Egypt, Italy, Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia – Group C: Spain, Croatia, Chile, Turkey – Group D: France, Brazil, Argentina, Kuwait – Group E: Sweden, Norway, Greece, Qatar – Group F: Portugal, Poland, Algeria, Faroe Islands – Group G: Denmark, USA, Slovenia, Angola – Group H: Iceland, Bahrain, Japan, North Macedonia

The tournament format sees the top three teams from each of the eight preliminary groups progress to the main round.

Egypt’s potential path through the tournament

If Egypt advance from Group B, they will move into a main-round group that also includes the three qualifiers from Group A, which contains hosts Germany, Serbia, Tunisia and Uruguay.

Under the draw, Egypt are kept on the opposite side of the bracket from Spain, France and Denmark until the semi-final stage, meaning they cannot meet any of those three European heavyweights before the last four.

However, Egypt are scheduled to be in the same main-round path as Germany, and could also cross paths with Sweden and Portugal in the quarter-finals, depending on results.

Group-stage schedule for Egypt

Egypt’s fixtures in the preliminary round of the 2027 World Championship have been set:

– 13 January – Egypt v Cape Verde – 15 January – Egypt v Saudi Arabia – 17 January – Egypt v Italy

The federation is presenting the Adidas partnership and the clarity of the World Championship route as twin pillars of its long-term planning, with the aim of keeping Egypt among the leading nations in international handball.
