Manchester City in advanced talks to sign Lille and Morocco midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi

Manchester City are in intense negotiations with Lille over a move for midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi as the Premier League champions look to bolster their squad.

The club are attempting to persuade LOSC to part with the highly rated Morocco international, whose performances at the 2026 World Cup have drawn widespread attention.

According to RMC Sport, discussions between City and Lille are described as “particularly intense”, with the English club pushing to reach an agreement for the midfielder.

The report adds that City have also established direct contact with Bouaddi’s representatives as they work to position themselves at the front of the queue for his signature.

City seen as frontrunners

Bouaddi’s displays for Morocco at the 2026 World Cup, backed up by his statistical output during the tournament, have impressed both scouts and football analysts, raising his profile significantly on the European market.

RMC Sport report that several other clubs have expressed interest in the Lille midfielder following his World Cup performances, although no other suitors are named.

However, the French outlet states that “the English club currently have a head start on the competition in this case”, suggesting Manchester City are regarded as favourites if Lille agree to sell.

Lille face decision over key asset

Lille must now decide whether to cash in on Bouaddi or keep him as a central part of their plans.

While there is no mention of an agreed fee or formal bid, the intensity of the talks outlined by RMC Sport underlines City’s determination to land the midfielder.

For the moment, the outcome hinges on whether LOSC can be convinced to release a player whose recent international performances have significantly boosted both his reputation and market value.
