Willsem Boussaid poised for Anderlecht move as Algerian U23 midfielder nears Belgium step-up

Algeria Under-23 international Willsem Boussaid is close to completing a move to Anderlecht, with only minor details said to be outstanding before the transfer is made official.

The attacking midfielder, who came through the French system and spent last season with Chateauroux in the National, is expected to join the Brussels club after attracting interest with his consistency and performances in the 2025-26 campaign.

According to journalist Abdel Hamed, Anderlecht are in advanced talks and are “on the verge” of finalising the deal for Boussaid, who has also previously been on the books at RC Strasbourg.

The Belgian giants, long regarded as one of Europe’s most productive clubs for nurturing young players, see Boussaid as a promising profile who could fit into their long-term sporting project.

Key career step for Algeria U23 international

Should the move be confirmed, it would mark a significant milestone in the career of the young Algeria U23 international, handing him the chance to test himself in the Belgian top flight after his development in France and in the French third tier.

Boussaid, formed in France, has followed a path built around several important learning stages. After developing in the environment of RC Strasbourg, he moved to Chateauroux, where he played the entire 2025-26 season in the National.

His displays there, combining regular game time with steady performances, are understood to have drawn the attention of multiple scouts and paved the way for his likely switch to Belgium.

Anderlecht opportunity seen as major platform

If the agreement is completed as anticipated, joining one of Belgium’s most prestigious clubs would offer Boussaid a substantial platform to confirm his potential and continue his progression in a more competitive setting.

The move to Anderlecht would give the midfielder greater exposure at a higher level, with the possibility of gaining valuable experience in a demanding league and strengthening his position within Algeria’s youth national-team set-up.

With the transfer described as being just “a few details” away from being formalised, Boussaid appears on the brink of a new chapter that could accelerate both his club career and his international prospects.
