Vinicius Jr. contract talks with Real Madrid stall over salary demands

Vinicius Jr. wants a landmark new contract to stay at Real Madrid, but talks have stalled because the two sides are still far apart on salary.

According to Mario Cortegana, the Brazilian believes his new deal should reflect his status at the club, while Madrid feel the demands are difficult to match.

The winger is now entering the final year of his current contract, which puts extra pressure on Madrid to sort out the situation soon. If no agreement is reached, he could start speaking to foreign clubs from January, something the club is keen to avoid.

Real Madrid are said to be open to selling him this summer rather than risk losing him for nothing later on. Even so, Vinicius still wants to remain at the Santiago Bernabéu and is waiting for talks to resume after his post-World Cup break.

The standoff has become one of the club’s most delicate contract issues. Vinicius has grown into one of Madrid’s most important attacking players, but his future will now depend on whether both sides can find a compromise quickly enough.
