Real Madrid raise bid for RB Leipzig winger Yansane Diomande to €120m but no agreement yet

Real Madrid have increased their offer for RB Leipzig winger Yansane Diomande to €120m, but the Bundesliga club have yet to accept the bid and are still holding out for €130m, according to The Athletic.

The German side have not formally responded to Madrid’s latest proposal and are expected to turn it down, although there is said to be confidence that a compromise can eventually be reached between the two clubs.

Real Madrid’s new offer is understood to be structured as €100m guaranteed plus a further €20m in performance-related add-ons, after an initial €100m bid was rejected by Leipzig.

Diomande, 19, is due to report back to Leipzig on Monday, when club officials are expected to sit down with him. The Athletic reports that the Ivory Coast international intends to make clear his desire to join Real Madrid.

Record fee expected for Leipzig

Leipzig are insisting on a total package worth €130m to sanction the sale of the teenager, whose current contract runs until 2030.

Should a deal at that level be completed, Diomande would become the most expensive outgoing transfer in Leipzig’s history, surpassing Josko Gvardiol’s move to Manchester City in the 2023-24 season, which was worth €90m.

For Real Madrid, the Ivorian would be the fourth most expensive signing in the club’s history, behind Jude Bellingham, Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale.

Previous reports had indicated that Diomande was close to joining the Spanish champions after Paris Saint-Germain pulled back from negotiations, leaving Madrid in a strong position to secure his signature.

Potential fifth signing under Mourinho

If the transfer goes through, Diomande would be Real Madrid’s fifth signing of the summer under Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho.

He would follow Marc Cucurella, Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konate and Bernardo Silva in arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu as part of a major squad rebuild.

Rapid rise of Diomande

The Athletic notes that Diomande’s trajectory over the past two years has taken him from relative obscurity to one of the most highly valued young players in world football.

The winger enjoyed a standout season with Leipzig in the Bundesliga, scoring 12 goals and providing nine assists in 33 league appearances.

His performances were central to Leipzig finishing third in the table and securing qualification for the Champions League.

Diomande also caught the eye on the international stage with Cote d’Ivoire at the World Cup, where he impressed despite the team’s elimination in the round of 32.

Negotiations between Real Madrid and RB Leipzig are expected to continue in the coming days as both clubs work towards a possible agreement for one of the most sought-after young attacking talents in European football.
