Somerville completes €80m move as Al Hilal land sixth summer signing

Al Hilal have completed the signing of Netherlands international Crysencio Summerville from West Ham United on a four-year deal, making the winger the Saudi club’s sixth arrival of the summer.

The 24-year-old joins the Riyadh side after Al Hilal agreed a total package worth €80m (£68m), according to an earlier report by The Athletic.

Summerville had been expected to leave West Ham in this transfer window following the club’s relegation to the Championship. His contract with the Premier League side had been due to run until 2029.

Competition for the Dutch winger’s signature was strong, with Roma submitting an offer in the region of €46m, while Manchester United and Aston Villa also made enquiries over a possible deal.

Al Hilal have now moved ahead of the European clubs to secure the former West Ham player, who has committed to the Saudi Pro League champions until 2030.

Summerville recently featured for the Netherlands at the World Cup, further enhancing his profile on the international stage.

The Dutchman’s performances for both club and country were a key factor in attracting interest from major European sides before Al Hilal completed the move.
