Al Ahly set for Hussein Ammouta return as friendly matches planned during international break
Al Ahly head coach Hussein Ammouta will return to Cairo on Sunday, with the team scheduled to resume training under the Moroccan on Monday.
The club’s players have been given a four-day break following their 2-0 victory over Abu Qir Fertilizers in the Egyptian League.
FilGoal.com understands that Ammouta will take charge when Al Ahly return to training as the squad begins preparations for its upcoming fixtures.
Al Ahly are expected to arrange several friendly matches during the international break. The games will provide an opportunity for players who have had limited playing time in competitive matches to gain further minutes.
The club have previously used friendlies immediately after official matches to maintain the fitness of substitutes and players left out of the squad.
Al Ahly are currently third in the Egyptian League with 13 points. Pyramids lead the table on 15 points, while Zamalek are second, also with 13 points.
The team’s next competitive fixture will be against Petrojet at Borg El Arab Stadium on 8 October in the opening round of the Egypt Capital Cup.
That match will be followed by the Cairo derby against Zamalek in the sixth round of the Egyptian League on 11 October. The game is due to take place at Cairo International Stadium.
