Tolu Arokodare disputes reports after being sent away from Wolves training

Nigeria striker Tolu Arokodare has rejected reports about his conduct at Wolverhampton Wanderers’ training ground, insisting he has behaved professionally despite being told not to work with the first team.

English media outlets had claimed the 25-year-old refused to leave the training pitch on Monday after new Wolves head coach Cesar Peixoto informed him he was not currently permitted to train with the senior squad.

According to those reports, Arokodare allegedly ignored Peixoto’s instruction, prompting the session to be halted. It was further reported that the following day Wolves put additional security measures in place to prevent the forward from rejoining the group.

But Arokodare has publicly challenged that version of events, describing many of the claims as inaccurate and stressing his commitment to the club.

“I have been very surprised and disappointed by today’s press articles, many of which are incorrect,” he wrote on social media.

“Throughout my career, I have always prided myself on behaving in a professional manner and maintaining the highest training standards.”

The Nigeria international, who is under contract at Molineux, emphasised that he intends to continue preparing as normal while he remains a Wolves player.

“My commitment has always been to prepare myself in the best way possible so that I can contribute to my teammates and the club when called upon,” he added.

“I am still under contract with Wolves and my only focus is to fulfil my responsibilities professionally by training, doing my job and contributing to the team.”

Transfer interest from Ajax

The dispute over the training incident comes amid growing speculation about Arokodare’s future after just one season in the Premier League.

Transfer journalist Matteo Moretto reported on Wednesday that Ajax are interested in signing the striker, who joined Wolves from KRC Genk last year for a fee of €26m.

Arokodare is expected to leave the club after a single campaign, with Ajax now linked as a potential destination. There is no indication yet of whether formal talks have begun or what terms any move might involve.

Background to Arokodare’s Wolves spell

Arokodare arrived at Wolves from Belgian side KRC Genk with a reputation as a promising forward, and his situation has now become a focal point as Peixoto begins reshaping the squad.

While the club have not publicly commented on the specific training ground incident or on Arokodare’s future, the combination of reports about his exclusion from first-team sessions and growing transfer interest points towards an unsettled end to his time at Molineux.

For now, Arokodare maintains that he will continue to train and carry out his duties, reiterating that his aim is to help his team-mates and the club “when called upon”, even as speculation over a move away gathers pace.
