Paris Saint-Germain reach verbal agreement with RB Leipzig winger Yann Diomande amid £101m battle with Liverpool and Real Madrid

Paris Saint-Germain have reached a verbal agreement with highly rated RB Leipzig winger Yann Diomande on a contract until 2031, but have yet to submit a formal offer to the Bundesliga club despite rival interest from Liverpool and Real Madrid, according to reports in Germany.

The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international, whose future has become one of the major stories of the current transfer window, is being pursued by several of Europe’s leading clubs, even as Leipzig continue to insist they want to keep him.

German daily Bild reports that Diomande’s post‐tournament break following his involvement at the 2026 World Cup has now ended. He is expected to rejoin Leipzig training next week, ahead of the club’s pre-season camp in Austria, although the club have not set an exact return date.

Liverpool bid rejected as rivals circle

During the World Cup, Leipzig are said to have turned down a €100m (£85m) offer from Liverpool for Diomande. The Bundesliga side were able to stand firm because the player is under contract until the summer of 2030 and does not have a release clause.

That stance, however, has not deterred other suitors. According to the same report, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have all indicated they would also be prepared to pay €100m to sign the winger.

Despite that interest, PSG are understood to be the only club to have reached an understanding with Diomande himself. The two parties have agreed in principle on a deal running to 2031, but the French champions have not yet followed up by lodging an official bid with Leipzig.

PSG urged to move quickly

People close to Diomande, working alongside Roc Nation – the agency that represents him – are thought to be pressing PSG to speed up negotiations with Leipzig. Their concern is that any delay could allow another major club to step in and move ahead in the race for his signature.

Bild also notes that Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi was seen alongside Red Bull chief executive Oliver Mintzlaff at the World Cup final in New York. Their presence together is understood to have provided an opportunity for talks between the two hierarchies, although no formal agreement over a transfer was reached.

Leipzig’s valuation and Enrique’s stance

Leipzig are reported to be demanding at least €120m (£101m) to consider selling Diomande, a figure significantly higher than Liverpool’s rejected bid and above the amounts other clubs have so far been prepared to pay.

Internally, the German club are said to be increasingly doubtful about their chances of keeping the forward for another season. The option of buying Diomande and then immediately sending him out on loan has been raised during discussions, but Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique is reported to be opposed to any such arrangement and wants the player available to him immediately if a deal is completed.

Balancing sporting value and dressing-room harmony

Leipzig’s hierarchy are described as fully aware of Diomande’s importance, both in footballing terms and as a commercial asset. However, the club are also conscious of the risks of forcing an unsettled player to stay against his wishes.

Bild draws a parallel with the case of Xavi Simons, suggesting that Leipzig believe keeping a footballer who no longer wants to remain at the club could have a negative impact on the dressing-room atmosphere, as they feel has happened before.

For now, Diomande is due back with Leipzig as they step up preparations for the new season, while PSG, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Arsenal and Manchester City all continue to monitor a situation that could develop quickly once a first official bid is made.
