Yan Diomande pushing for PSG move as RB Leipzig hold firm over €120m valuation

Yan Diomande has made Paris Saint-Germain his clear priority this summer, but the 19-year-old RB Leipzig winger’s desired move to the French champions is being held up by the German club’s stance over a potential transfer fee.

The Ivory Coast international, who enjoyed a breakthrough season in the Bundesliga with 13 goals and 10 assists in 36 matches, is wanted by several major European sides including Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid. However, Diomande is understood to be focused on securing a switch to the French capital.

Talks between the player and PSG are described as advanced and, according to Bild, a contract running until 2031 has already been agreed in principle between Diomande and the Ligue 1 champions. Despite that progress, negotiations between PSG and RB Leipzig have stalled, leaving the transfer at an impasse.

Leipzig holding out amid growing pressure

RB Leipzig are determined to keep hold of one of their most prized assets, who is under contract with the club until June 2030. Club officials are reported to be unwilling to sanction a sale unless their conditions are fully met.

Internally, Leipzig are said to be demanding close to €120m to even consider a departure, while also attaching additional conditions that are making the deal significantly more complicated for PSG to finalise. The German side’s firm position has so far prevented any breakthrough in discussions between the clubs.

That hard line is beginning to cause frustration in the Diomande camp. Those close to the player are now expecting a more decisive move from PSG and want the French champions to intensify talks with Leipzig in order to prevent the saga dragging on deep into the summer window.

PSG priority and personal terms

For PSG, Diomande remains one of the key targets of their current transfer window as they look to further strengthen their attack. His valuation on Transfermarkt stands at €90m, below Leipzig’s asking price, but the Ivorian is nonetheless considered a major priority by the French champions.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the PSG president, is personally following the situation and is expected to play a central role in any attempt to persuade Leipzig to soften their stance. Whether he can convince the Bundesliga club to reduce their demands or relax their conditions will likely determine whether the move can progress.

Diomande currently earns €750,000 per year (487,500,000 FCFA) at RB Leipzig. A move to PSG would almost certainly come with a significant pay rise, but for now the sticking point lies entirely between the two clubs rather than with the player’s personal terms.

Future in the balance as pre-season looms

Diomande is due to report back to RB Leipzig next week for the start of pre-season preparations, including a training camp in Austria. The timing is adding to the urgency around his future, with the player hoping the situation can be resolved before the new campaign begins in earnest.

The winger is keen to see clarity over his next move as soon as possible, but unless PSG and Leipzig can find common ground on the fee and conditions of any deal, he will be expected to continue his development in Germany.
