Egypt learn 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying schedule as dates and venues confirmed

Egypt’s path to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations has been mapped out, with the national team handed a six-game qualifying schedule against Angola, South Sudan and Malawi between September 2026 and March 2027.

The 2027 tournament itself will be staged jointly by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania, with the finals set to take place across the three East African nations in June and July 2027.

Egypt have been drawn in a four-team qualifying group alongside Angola, South Sudan and Malawi, with home-and-away fixtures to decide which sides advance to the finals.

The qualification campaign will run across three international windows – in September-October and November 2026, and March 2027.

Early fixtures set for Cairo and away trip to South Sudan

According to details obtained by FilGoal.com, Egypt will begin their campaign with back-to-back matches in the first and second rounds.

The opening game will see Egypt host Angola in Cairo, before they travel to face South Sudan away from home. The exact venue for South Sudan’s home fixture has yet to be confirmed.

Both of these matches will be played during the international window between 21 September and 6 October 2026.

Double-header against Malawi in November window

The third and fourth rounds will bring a quick-fire double-header against Malawi.

Egypt will first meet Malawi in Cairo, before the return fixture is played in Malawi.

Those two games are scheduled to take place in the international window running from 9 to 17 November 2026.

Campaign to conclude against Angola and South Sudan

Egypt will complete their group programme in March 2027 with two decisive fixtures.

First, they will travel to Angola for the away leg, before returning to Cairo to face South Sudan at home.

These fifth and sixth round matches are set to be held between 22 and 30 March 2027.

Background: Egypt aiming to improve on last AFCON finish

The upcoming tournament in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania will be the next edition of the Africa Cup of Nations after the finals most recently hosted by Morocco.

In that previous edition, Egypt finished fourth, missing out on a place on the podium.

The Pharaohs will now look to safely navigate a qualifying group featuring Angola, South Sudan and Malawi in order to secure their spot at the 2027 finals and attempt to better their last continental performance.
